Community relations

At Sovereign we’re passionate about healthy living, so we’re on a mission to help ensure the future health and wellbeing of New Zealand communities.

Just how healthy are Kiwis? To find out, we developed New Zealand’s first Wellbeing Index, the most comprehensive survey of the quality of life of New Zealanders. Read more about the Wellbeing Index.

Allowing younger people to have the opportunity to be the best they can be is essential to the future of New Zealand. So we’ve partnered with a number of charities like Youthline that help protect and support youth, plus volunteer partners Conservation Volunteers.

Charity partnerships

We’re proud to support Youthline in their work to boost the wellbeing of young people and families through working together on projects, staff volunteering and fundraising events. Youthline provide services like a 24/7 youth helpline, counselling services, personal and leadership development programmes, and mentoring.

One way we’re helping Youthline is by attracting more volunteers through a new social innovation pilot. Read more about helping Youthline in South Auckland.

We’ve also partnered with Sweet Louise, an organisation established in 2005 to support people living with secondary breast cancer. Through our partnership, Sweet Louise is able to provide children with resources to help explain breast cancer, counselling and access to a team of nurses.

An area we actively encourage all our staff getting involved in is volunteering. Everyone at Sovereign is given a day off each year to work on a range of community projects. By giving time through volunteering, our people not only make a difference in the community, they also improve their own personal wellbeing and foster good teamwork.

Our operational teams are also given the special opportunity to volunteer their time for Look Good Feel Better. This is the only worldwide cancer support charity, providing free, practical support to women undergoing treatment for cancer.

Our other volunteer partnerships include cancer support charity Look Good Feel Better, environmental sustainability group Conservation Volunteers, plus Volunteering Auckland and Volunteering Canterbury.
